What is Pharmacogenetics Testing?

Pharmacogenetic testing is at the core of “Personalized Medicine” and it uses genetic information to help predict medication interactions and side effects. The ultimate goal of pharmacogenetics is to improve health care by utilizing an individual’s unique genetic information to “tailor” drug therapy and maximize medication safety and efficacy.

How is Pharmacogenetics Testing done?

We collect a DNA sample, obtained through blood or a cheek swab, this sample is then processed and tested for known changes in the DNA sequence that affect how psychotropics work and/or how they are metabolized.
